Three recognised.

15 January 2019

Three psychologists have been recognised for their work in the New Year’s Honours list. Professor Zenobia Nadirshaw from the University of West London received the MBE for services to people with learning disabilities and mental health treatment. An Honorary Life Member of the British Psychological Society, Nadirshaw is a consultant clinical psychologist with 40 years of clinical and management experience in NHS health and social care services.

Professor Ian Deary, Professor of Differential Psychology at the University of Edinburgh and Director of its Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology, received an OBE for services to the social sciences. Deary is noted for his work with people tested as schoolchildren by the Scottish Council for Research in Education in 1932 and 1947. Later follow-up work with this group has given valuable new insights into the relationship between intelligence, mortality and ageing. You can find more about his work in our archive.

Professor Quentin Summerfield from the University of York received an OBE for services to psychology and people with hearing loss.
