Are you researching how to have a better brain?

A new BBC Radio 4 series needs your help.

15 May 2015

A new BBC Radio 4 series is in production, and they are looking for help from the psychology community. ‘How To Have A Better Brain’, presented by Sian Williams, will offer a 'shareable toolkit' to help people of all ages preserve and enhance cognitive function.

Producer Dixi Stewart told us: 'We are hoping to draw on the latest research to deliver programmes which are evidence-based, information-rich and full of smart tips and techniques for listeners on how to make the most of their brains. If your readers have any thoughts about experiments we might undertake, or research we might dip into, we would love to hear from them. I’m also keen to get some news coverage for the series so if a quick straw poll of Radio 4 listeners (10 million of them during Today) would yield any useful results for researchers in psychology then I’d be happy to explore the possibilities. You can email me on [email protected] .'

Recorded in a variety of revealing locations, the programme will investigate the different factors which impact on neurological behaviour – such as physical exercise, stress, sleep, diet and mental stimulation – through interviews with scientists engaged in research as well as those looking to boost their brain power.

‘How To Have A Better Brain’ is due to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in August 2015. Sian Williams is a journalist, broadcaster and Masters graduate of the University of Westminster, about to embark in a PhD in Psychology. Read more about her work. The Series Consultant is Dr Catherine Loveday, who is also Chair of the Psychologist Editorial Advisory Committee.
