Improvements in medical care mean that survival rates in children with a wide range of chronic conditions have improved significantly within the relatively recent past. It is now possible to treat children with chronic or life-threatening conditions in a way that was not possible even 20 years ago. The result is that survival among children with serious and life-threatening conditions is significantly improved.
