Online therapy: A cause for concern?

A 27 - year old man comes home from a busy day at work feeling highly stressed and anxious. Unable to relax, he logs on to the internet, locates a self-help site for stress and anxiety and fills out a 15-item checklist. Within a few hours he receives an e-mail which suggests he may have an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. He is invited to revisit the site to learn more about his possible disorder, seek further advice from an online counsellor, and join an online
self-help group.
