Job Title: Associate Clinical Psychologist

12 March 2020

Dovehouse Psychology Services is a small, multidisciplinary health centre offering a wide range of treatments. Dr Sharna Lewis tells us:

‘The associate role will involve assessing individuals undergoing litigation who have been a victim of an accident on the road, in a public place or at work. You’ll get full training in personal injury expert witness work and report writing, as well as supervision. Working hours are very flexible and the candidate can fit it around an existing job or commitments. Ideally, they would need to commit to at least one day per week with extra work available if they wish. Assessments will be  face-to-face interviews lasting at an hour, coupled with background reading and medical notes; the report is then written up in their own time.

The practice is looking for someone with two years’ postdoctoral experience, who has worked assessing adults and/or children in a mental health setting. They will need good, basic IT skills, have access to a computer and good written language skills to ensure they can create reports that are independent and will communicate effectively to the legal recipients.

The associate will be conducting the interviews at Broad Oaks Health Clinic, so the candidate will need to live within a reasonable distance from the practice. Solihull was named the best place to live in the UK in 2013, so it’s a good place to work, and both Broad Oaks Health Clinic and Dovehouse Psychology Services have a very good reputation. This is an ideal job for an NHS psychologist to learn about personal injury work and get experience working as an expert witness in private practice.’
