PsyPAG becomes official BPS group

The Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG) is set to become an official BPS group after consultation with the society’s Board of Trustees. The group, which any psychology postgraduate at a UK institution can join, will now have more influence in representing the voice of postgraduates within the BPS.

PsyPAG will also now be able to access more support from the BPS including event management, finance and communications, and its members will have the opportunity to work more closely with the society’s other groups and networks. Outgoing chair of PsyPAG Madeleine Pownall (University of Leeds) said it was great that the group had become part of the BPS family. ‘After a lot of consideration from the PsyPAG committee, the Research Board, and other BPS groups, we believed that this was the best step forward for our community, in order to give ourselves a real voice within the BPS, to grow the representation of postgraduate psychologists in psychology policy through the BPS and to continue to support psychologists at the postgraduate stage of training.

‘By being more closely aligned it means we can really push forward new initiatives which work for all. We already have a vibrant, supportive and engaged postgraduate community, and we are looking forward to growing that as we integrate into the BPS.’

- We are hoping to work with PsyPAG on a special issue for 2022…
